There are many reasons why people relocate to Houston on a regular basis. Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S., so naturally we have all the amenities that you would expect to find in such a large metropolitan area. Then add in the low cost of living, no personal state income tax, steady job and housing market, and it’s no wonder that so many major international corporations have offices here and/or have chosen Houston for its corporate headquarters. As a result, Houston continues to enjoy a growing population of people who make Houston their new home.
Here’s aother reason to relocate to Houston…for the food. That’s right, for the food. As an extremely international city, Houston is home to delicious cuisine from all over the world. This is especially important to our expat community, which is always looking for a little taste of home. Authenticity is also very important. For example, many of our residents from the U.K. enjoy the Red Lion Pub on a regular basis. It was first introduced to me by English friends of mine, who consider the pub grub at the Red Lion to be just like at home. It is always my pleasure to introduce English nationals to the Fish n’ Chips and Bangers and Mash at this Houston hot spot.
Guess who else recently visited the Red Lion Pub and filmed an episode of his popular show, “Diners Drive-ins and Dives”? That’s right, none other than the Food Network’s Guy Fieri. I was having dinner there last night and was told that the pub will be featured on an upcoming episode of the show in September. I even saw the graffiti stencil on the wall from Guy himself. While the Red Lion Pub is neither a diner, drive-in or dive, it is a favorite among Brits and Americans alike, who go there for the great atmosphere, friendly service and yummy food.
