As a company, John Daugherty, Realtors believes very much in giving back to the community. Whether it is through our participation and involvement in organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, Shaggy Dog Rescue, the Nancy Owens Memorial Foundation, or for something as simple as buying and packaging items for the troops in Iraq. Just last week, we collected a bevy of items and prepared care packages, which the troops will receive in just about two weeks. These efforts were lead by DeDe Fike, one of our agents who happens to have a brother who is currently serving in Iraq. Fike says, “This is bigger than all of us, and if my contribution to them, as small as it may seem will help, then I will do it.” That sentiment has been shared throughout the company. Over the past couple of weeks, bags of items have been brought into the office and sorted for packaging and mailing to the troops. Fike says that everyone has been so great in their efforts, and have even filled out holiday cards to send with the packaged goods.
Among the goods collected were food items, sports equipment, games and entertainment devices, hygiene supplies, paper goods, and many special request items, such as mechanical pencils, Sharpies, highlighters, plastic water bottles and Trivial Pursuit game cards.
