Michelle Sandlin Bids Farewell to her Houston Relocation Blog

I started writing my Houston Relocation Blog almost 4 years ago, and it has been a real labor of love. As my many followers know, I was typically up in the wee hours of the night writing these posts and sharing my insights on the relocation industry while most normal people were asleep. But like all good things, this too must come to an end. As such, this will be my final post as author of this Houston Relocation Blog.
I have spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to say in this final post. As a writer, words should come easily, but it is difficult for me to accurately communicate everything that I am feeling at this moment in time. While I am excited to be embarking on a new journey, the focus of this blog post will be my time as Director of Global Relocation Services at John Daugherty, Realtors and the legacy of excellence that I leave behind in the Relocation Department and with the “Relocation Team” that I have been so fortunate to lead.
When I first took over the reins of our Relocation Department in December 2008, my first order of business was to analyze the Department, tear it down to the studs, rebuild it, and position John Daugherty, Realtors Global Relocation Services as a major force (if not “the” major force) in real estate/relocation services for Houston, Texas. To that end, I developed our JDR Relocation Training and Certification Program, leveraged my relationships within real estate and the relocation industry, formed strong strategic partnerships, streamlined processes, implemented new policies and procedures, created a dynamic team of relocation agents, and successfully continued to increase our relocation and referral business. So I would say mission accomplished! We have a rock solid relocation team and a Relocation Department that is poised to continue to thrive for many years to come.
As I pass the John Daugherty relocation torch to Tess Chaney, I can assure you that she is ready, willing and able to continue to lead the charge forward, and will continue to deliver outstanding service to our clients. I have every confidence that the high level of personal service and dedication that our clients have come to expect from John Daugherty Global Relocation Services will continue to be carried out by Tess and her team. After all, she did learn from the best…me!
All kidding aside, it is always hard to say good-bye, and I will especially miss working with Tess every day. While we always worked very hard, catching every fly ball that came our way, and meeting the daily challenges of an extremely busy Relocation Department, we were also always able to laugh and make it fun. She and I have enjoyed a very unique professional relationship, like none I have ever experienced before, and I will miss her dearly. I share the sentiment often echoed by our agents, when I say that we made an awesome team!
I also want to thank the wonderful team of agents that I have had the pleasure of working with at John Daugherty, Realtors. It has been a pleasure being their Relo Guru! They are without a doubt among the very best in the business, and I wish them all much continued success.
Lastly, I want to thank John A. Daugherty, Jr. for believing in me, offering me this amazing opportunity, and for giving me all the support and autonomy necessary for me to successfully build our thriving Global Relocation Services Division. He and the management team have been absolutely wonderful to work with, and it has been an honor to be part of their team, as well as a member of the John Daugherty, Realtors family. Hugs and kisses to you all!
As for me, I am very excited about the new adventure that I will be embarking on later this month with Chicago Title Houston as Vice President, Director of Communications and Marketing! I hope that you will continue to follow and connect with me via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and most probably a new blog coming soon.
